NewsCongratulations to Team Futaba member Brian Buaas!
Brian set two new NAMBA National Records at the recent District 19 2-lap Time Trials held at Legg Lake in El Monte California. Brian's first record in P-Hydro beat his old record by nearly 2.5 seconds for a best time of 19.22 seconds for 2 laps. This is the first electric boat to run this course in under 20 seconds. The P-Hydro was guided by the Futaba 3GR transmitter and powered by FlightPower 4S/5000 batteries. Brian's second record was in 1/10 Scale Modern Hydro. This boat was also guided by the Futaba 3GR transmitter. Brian is no stranger to speed; he has won many national fast electric titles, and holds several records for fast electric boats. Brian has also competed as a member of the United States F5D (aircraft pylon racing) team at the FAI F5D World Championships, and designed Discus Launched gliders. Team Futaba at the U.S. Pattern NationalsCONGRATULATIONS to Team Futaba members Andrew Jesky and Chip Hyde! They just finished 1 and 2 at the U.S. Pattern Nationals in the F3A class. Andrew and Chip also finished 1 and 2 in the F3A Team Selection Event. This means they will represent the United States at the F3A World Championships next year in Muncie IN. Team Futaba member Brett Wickizer also finished 4th in the Team Selection, making him the alternate for the team.
Futaba and Dirt Burners Pull Off Another Huge Success!4th Annual Futaba / O.S.® Engine Nitro Challenge Once again, the St. Louis Dirt Burners crew did an awesome job at prepping a track that would be extremely fun, yet challenging to the racers. Once the track started to pack down and blue groove, the racing got exciting…and extremely close. The top spots were constantly up for grabs. Pro Dash for Cash Futaba team driver Matt Gosch jumped out to an early lead in the seven lap shoot-out. Just when it looked like he had it all wrapped up, a slight bobble on the big doubles let O.S. driver Jessie Robbers take over the lead. From there, Jessie laid down the power with his O.S. Speed and took the cash and a pole position for the first A main. As always, the intermediate and expert drivers at the Futaba / O.S. Engine Nitro Challenge had a shot at taking home some great prizes from the two companies. Here is a quick run down of who took home the hardware. Be sure to check out www.futabanitrochallenge.com for the full results. Intermediate Arena Truck A Main Intermediate Buggy A Main Expert Arena Truck A Main Expert Buggy A Main If you came to the event to watch some of the top pros in the country go at it, you were not disappointed. The double A main format made the drivers use their heads a little bit more, but the racing was incredible. In the first buggy and truggy A mains, the last lap decided the winner. In the end, it was Ryan Lutz taking home a cool $1000.00! Not bad for a weekend of racing. Pro Arena Truck A Main Pro Buggy A Main Futaba and O.S. would like to thank all the racers and the entire Dirt Burners crew for their hard work and support. We look forward to the 5th annual Futaba / O.S. Engine Nitro Challenge at Dirt Burners in 2011!
Jason flew very consistently and precisely capturing second overall at the 2009 E-TOC. Both Jason and fellow team member Andrew Jesky suffered zero's when they unknownly flew out of bounds on a couple of flights. This was due to a misunderstanding by almost all of the pilots of where the zero line was. However, Jason battled back with near-perfect flights to capture second. It was clear that Jason had his freestyle perfectly matched to the rules as he also captured the title of Freestyle Champion. This prestigious award is presented to the pilot with the highest overall score in the Freestyle segment of the competition. Congratulations to Jason and all Team Futaba members for another great performance at the E-TOC. Futaba Rocks!February 26, 2009 Futaba is proud to announce the signing of one of the best rock crawling legends of all time, Austin Dunn. Austin has not only won more regional/national events than anyone else, but he is always on the cutting edge when it comes to innovative designs and has helped push the crawling scene to the next level. When asked why he made the switch to Futaba, Austin had this to say: "When the nationals are on the line, I want to have 110% confidence in my equipment. With Futaba, I now have that confidence. Also, with their new 4PK, I will be able to do things I only dreamed about…it really opens the door for innovation!" With Austin as the latest addition to the crawling team, Futaba will be a force to reckon with in 2009…in other words, Futaba rocks! First outing, first win!Twelve hours after the Futaba GY520 gyro was made available in the United States for the first time (to a few Team Futaba members); team member Kyle Stacy rocked the 2009 E-Fest crowd with a win in the Heli Smack-Down! Kyle's routine was awesome and full of high energy. When it came down to the crowd voting for the winner, there was absolutely no doubt who the winner was; the armory absolutely exploded with applause and yelling for Kyle! Kyle flew the Miniature Aircraft Furion (distributed exclusively by Great Planes) with a Futaba 7C and the GY520 using a S9257 servo for tail control. Thanks Kyle, for trusting in the new GY520 and for this awesome win at E-Fest! Kyle does, in fact, ROCK! News Archive: 2008 |
