6J 2.4GHz Radio System FAQ

  1. I would like to buy a battery pack and charger for it but can't seem to find where to buy it.

  2. What is the power output for the 6J 2.4 Ghz Computer radio?

  3. Can you tell me what receivers I can use with my new 6J?

  4. I just bought a Futaba 6J 6-Channel 2.4GHz transmitter. In the past I have had transmitters that allowed you to program EPA's, but not dual rates. I don't understand why I now have two features, instead of one, to shorten or lengthen the throws.

  5. I bought the Futaba 6J-2.4Ghz set. I discovered that channel 5 and 6 are not working in FHSS mode. In S-FHSS mode they do work. I an using the receiver from the box. Is this normal? If not how can i solve it?

  6. I am having a problem with the PMX1 mixer. The rudder only works in one (1) direction with ailerons. What can be the problem? Is there a "troubleshooting" chart or place to go to find out what this problem is?

  7. Could you give me an estimate of how the range of the 6J compares with the 6ex 2.4 ghz under similar condition. No antenna on the 6J is somewhat worrying.

  8. Does the 6J transmitter support S.Bus protocol?

  9. I cannot get channel 6 to function correctly. I would like it to work on Switch B or C but I don't get that option.

  10. I have a Futaba 6J transmitter it's in stick mode 1. Throttle stick forward is throttle closed for me. When I turn my transmitter on the throttle alarm goes off, can I reverse this alarm?

  11. Whenever I turn the 6J on nothing happens, except lots of beeps, and when the throttle is at full blast, nothing happens, but when I move the thrust stick down, the motor starts. Then I turn the remote off, and the motor goes full blast.

  12. I have a radio T8FG and I want to buy a second smaller radio for the trainer. Will the T6J can work with this as there is a difference in the power supply voltage?

  13. I did not find the answer to my question here. How do I get further assistance?

I would like to buy a battery pack and charger for it but can't seem to find where to buy it.

To be able to make this fit, you will need to purchase a battery door and a charge plug. These can be purchased from Futaba Service at 217-398-8970 opt 2. The part numbers you will need are: HSP82469 and HSP29615.

Also, the Futaba rechargeable battery pack for the 6J transmitter is:
FUTM1473 FHT5F1700B NIMH TX BATT 4PK/S US$56.99

You would also need an appropriate battery charger. If you don't have one, you can use:
FUTM1832 HBC3B(4) 4PK 4PKS CHARGER US$37.99

What is the power output for the 6J 2.4 Ghz Computer radio?

The transmitter output by FCC law is not to be higher than 100mw. We are slightly below that level to keep our systems legal.

Can you tell me what receivers I can use with my new 6J?

For a listing of compatible receivers, please see this page on our website:

I just bought a Futaba 6J 6-Channel 2.4GHz transmitter. In the past I have had transmitters that allowed you to program EPA's, but not dual rates. I don't understand why I now have two features, instead of one, to shorten or lengthen the throws.

We hope this helps you understand.

END POINT: Often abbreviated EPA, adjusts the total travel in each direction of proportional servos regardless of their control assignment. Ex: adjustment to AIL channel will adjust only the servo plugged into channel 1 even if being used as one of two flaperons or elevons. Note: End point is not an absolute; mixing can still drive the servo farther than this setting.

Dual rates: Reduce/increase the servo travel by flipping a switch (or by stick position). Used to make modeler more comfortable flying in different maneuvers.

There are only 4 channels available in FHSS mode in this transmitter.

I am having a problem with the PMX1 mixer. The rudder only works in one (1) direction with ailerons. What can be the problem? Is there a "troubleshooting" chart or place to go to find out what this problem is?

It sounds as though you have only set on rate under your PMX1. Go to the PMX1 function and go in to your rate. If you move the master gimbal from one side to the other. You can see that you have two rates to set. Set both rates and you should be fine.

Could you give me an estimate of how the range of the 6J compares with the 6ex 2.4 ghz under similar condition. No antenna on the 6J is somewhat worrying.

Yes, it has the same range, even without a visible antenna as the 6EX FASST.

Does the 6J transmitter support S.Bus protocol?

Yes You can use the R2008SB receiver, S.Bus servos, hubs and decoders with the 6J.

I cannot get channel 6 to function correctly. I would like it to work on Switch B or C but I don't get that option.

To activate channel 6 with a switch, go to the Flap Trim function and make it active. Then press the + button until you get the switch you want. You will not be able to choose Switch C as it is default Trainer/Idle up.

I have a Futaba 6J transmitter it's in stick mode 1. Throttle stick forward is throttle closed for me. When I turn my transmitter on the throttle alarm goes off, can I reverse this alarm?

Unfortunately, as this is a very basic radio, it does not have the ability of doing this.

Whenever I turn the 6J on nothing happens, except lots of beeps, and when the throttle is at full blast, nothing happens, but when I move the thrust stick down, the motor starts. Then I turn the remote off, and the motor goes full blast.

The main thing to remember with any Futaba radio is that you will need to reverse the throttle channel to work with most ESC's.

Go into the menu to the reverse function, go to channel 3 and make sure it is reversed. Have the throttle all the way down. Turn on the transmitter and then the receiver. Then try slowly increasing your throttle to make sure it works.

I have a radio T8FG and I want to buy a second smaller radio for the trainer. Will the T6J can work with this as there is a difference in the power supply voltage?

Yes, you can use the 6J with the 8FG in a trainer setup. Just use trainer cord part number:
FUTM4415 MMTC TRNR CORD MICRO/MICRO PLG
