How can I set up a 45-degree CCPM?
Per World Champion Dwight Shilling:
This radio's basic programming supports CCPM at 120 degrees without any phase shift. First, be sure your helicopter actually needs 45-degree shift. (Robbe/Schluter has a helicopter with a similar setup with the swashplate shifted 45-degrees but they shift the mixing base and rotor head to accomodate this which eliminates the need to use any special mix.)
Assuming it does, there are two ways to solve this problem.
The first is to change the mixing base relative to the main shaft which would require making a new main shaft with the head bolt in a different position to accomodate a different phasing shift of the mixing. This would allow use of the standard mix in the radio.
The second and more likely approach is to use two mixes in addition to the standard rotation mode to increase the electronic phase shifting in the radio. This requires using a mix of elevator to aileron and another mix of aileron to elevator, around 90% up and down mix will solve the problem.
To verify the elevator to aileron mix is correct all that needs to be done is have the flybar exactly in line with the tail boom and then move elevator fore and aft to verify the flybar is not seeing any inputs. Then move the aileron right and left and verify the blades are not seeing any movement still while the flybar is lined up with the boom. Once you can do both of these tests without any interaction you will have the 45-degree phase shift electronically adjusted correctly. These mixes will need to be active in all flight modes and should not be assigned to a switch which could inadvertently turn them off. (The default in the program mixes is always on and no switch assigned.)
