I have a plane that I am considering recovering with an aluminum covering. Is this going to be a problem for my Futaba FASST receiver?
If you are in doubt about your transmitter's ability to communicate with your receiver due to possible interference from the type of covering used, we suggest that you do a thorough ground range (power down) check. Any possible degradation of range should be obvious by doing so. If a system's usual range drops significantly in a model with a new brand or style of covering, then that should raise suspicions and caution.
Our 6EX 2.4GHz systems have now been flown in a wide variety of applications ranging from graphite reinforced fuselages to airplanes covered in a wide range of coverings. To date, no problems have been reported in which the covering was found to have been the cause of a reduction in range.
