PA-2 Pilot Assist Link Auto Pilot System FAQ
I did not find the answer to my question here. How do I get further assistance? Can I use the PA2 with a rudder/elevator aircraft or only aileron/elevator? Absolutely! The PA-2 can be used in a rudder/elevator combination to level the aircraft as easily as aileron/elevator. My aircraft 'porpoises' or 'hunts' for a straight line when I use the PA2. What am I doing wrong? You've set the gain too high and the unit is over-correcting. Turn the gain setting down by 10% and fly the model again. Continue to decrease until you are just under this point where the model 'porpoises'. This will give you the maximum sensitivity. Can I use the PA2 on a helicopter? No, the PA2 is not designed for helicopter use. Are there any times I should NOT use my PA2? Yes. Because the PA2 works by telling light (sky) from dark (ground), it should not be used on extremely bright days, or when flying over snow, water, or other reflective surface. Can I use the PA2 with a 4-channel radio system? Absolutely, however, you will not be able to adjust its sensitivity in flight (but you can on the ground before/after flights). The PA1's sensitivity cannot be adjusted AT ALL if using a 4-channel system which doesn't have a channel free for this. How does the PA2 differ from the PA1? The PA1 offered two servo per surface support for a model with flaperons, for example. The PA2 does not offer that but instead offers on-ground gain adjustment along with the optional in-flight gain adjustment so that the sensitivity can be adjusted pre-flight for those using a 4-channel or similar radio system. What is the auxilary plug for? This plug allows you to adjust the gain (amount of control) of the PA2 while in flight by using an auxiliary channel Can the PA2 be used in mountainous terrain? No. The PA2 requires a clean horizon to operate properly. It will not function properly around mountains, tall buildings, or other items which will alter its view of a flat horizon. |
